Hi! I’m an experienced and supportive tutor specialising in English language skills and academic writing. I have been tutoring English since 2018, working with students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds, and supporting learners at different stages of their academic development.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in German, and a master’s degree in Comparative Education from UCL. I currently work as a Student Advisor at a UK university, where I support students across different stages of their academic journey.
I began teaching English as a part-time tutor in 2018, where I developed a strong foundation in helping students improve their core language skills, including reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar. In 2021, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the largest tutoring companies in China, supporting teaching and providing additional guidance to students who needed targeted help. This role strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly, manage different learning paces, and respond flexibly to students’ individual needs.
Since 2023, I have focused on tutoring academic writing in English, particularly for students preparing for university-level study. I support students with essay structure, academic style, argument development, clarity of expression, and critical thinking. One example of my work includes helping a student successfully pass an English language course and progress into a BA programme in a UK university, by working step by step on their writing skills, understanding of academic conventions, and confidence in using English independently.
My teaching style is structured, patient, and student-centred. I believe that effective learning happens when students feel supported and understood, so I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals, strengths, and challenges. I break complex tasks into manageable steps, provide clear explanations and practical examples, and encourage students to actively reflect on their learning progress.
A key strength of mine is identifying where students are struggling—whether with language accuracy, organisation of ideas, or academic expectations—and adjusting my approach accordingly. I also have experience supporting students with different learning needs and always aim to create a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Overall, my goal is not only to help students improve their English language and academic writing skills, but also to build their confidence, independence, and long-term academic success.
