I am a BA (Hons) Fine Art, first-class honors graduate from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, through its University of the Arts London program. I'm currently serving as an assistant exhibition manager at an art gallery in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as an art tutor. My academic journey has been enriched with several scholarships and accolades, including the Best Graduate Award, Ngee Ann Kongsi Gold Medal, the Lim Ai Fang Art Prize, and the Woon Tai Jee Art Prize by the Woon Brothers Foundation. With a deep appreciation for education, I have also had the privilege of tutoring students who went on to prestigious institutions such as Ravensbourne University, the University of Manchester, Macromedia University, and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
In teaching, I emphasize personalized learning strategies, encouraging students to discover their own voice while strengthening foundational knowledge. I incorporate interactive discussions, creative exercises, and practical applications, particularly when teaching narrative and creative writing or preparing students for portfolio presentations. My goal is to cultivate confidence and critical thinking, empowering students to excel academically and personally.
My expertise lies in creative and narrative writing, fine art, and critical analysis. I thrive in helping students translate complex concepts into accessible ideas, guiding them to articulate their thoughts effectively, whether through essays, artworks, or presentations. My background in Southeast Asian history and socio-political art practices enables me to bring a culturally nuanced perspective to discussions.
One memorable case involved mentoring a student whose confidence in creative writing was low. Through tailored exercises and constructive feedback, they improved significantly and gained entry to Ravensbourne University and an art scholarship at the University of the Arts Bournemouth. Another case was guiding a visual arts student in refining their portfolio, which led to their acceptance into NAFA’s highly competitive program.
With a passion for nurturing creativity and academic excellence, I look forward to supporting students in achieving their goals.
