As an artist, Mao (Kun) Chen’s works explore themes of socio-cultural identity, female representation, gender, and sexual politics associated with growing up in a male-dominated society. Broadly inspired by both Eastern and Western histories of art, Mao’s personal vision of identity and gender transcends the traditional constructed notions and positions it within a new aesthetic reality.
Mao is also an art educator, who teaches drawing, acrylics and oil painting, and ceramics. Passionate about fine art education. Ability to design and develop course content. Fluent speaking and writing in English and native speaker in Mandarin.
