About me

Introduction

Gives encouragement Interactive teaching style Top university graduate

I'm currently a research assistant working on applied microeconomics at University College London (UCL), and I will start my MRes/PhD Economics programme at UCL in this September. I came to the UK at the age of 13 and did my GCSE and A-Level here. For A-Level, I did Economics (A*), History (A*), Maths (A*), Further Maths (A*), and Chinese (A). As for higher education, I did my BSc Economics at UCL and MSc Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at London School of Economics (LSE), for which I was awarded First and Distinction respectively. My experience of undertaking A-Level and university degrees in economics will help me better understand the difficulty faced by students.

Under a programme jointly organized by UCL and Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (NCS), I previously volunteered as an A-Level Economics tutor at NCS for eight weeks, going through exam questions with the sixth formers while helping them think beyond the A-Level syllabus. From this experience I learnt how to teach in a scaffolding style, helping students learn how to independently think through problems step-by-step. I’m also confident in my ability to teach university-level economics as I frequently offer informal tutorials to my friends.
