I started my teaching career almost 25 years ago as a CELTA qualified teacher in Japan. Returning to the UK four years later, I continued my career progression teaching in London, Harrogate, and York, where I gained my DELTA qualification. I took roles as a tutor, a director at a language school and a private boarding school, teaching both adults and children. During this time, I became an IELTS examiner, teacher and invigilator, a Pearson PTE examiner, and taught in a variety of contexts including privately face-to-face and online. Over the years I also worked as a teacher-trainer, course-content designer/writer, and proof-reader. I am trained as an assessor, invigilator, and lead-invigilator. I work efficiently and am able to write detailed, valuable reports on all aspects of a student’s performance following strict deadlines. I have been involved in, and led, standardisation meetings and work scrutiny sessions to share best practice and promote continuous professional development. I have delivered employability skills including interview skills, creating CVs, and preparing personal statements.
