• Freelance English Language tutor(1988-1999). I taught all levels from pre-school children to teenagers looking to take the Cambridge Proficiency exam in order to enter British universities. I also worked with Greek adults seeking to improve their conversational skills.
About me
Introduction
I love to travel and interact with people from different cultures. I spent ten years living in Athens, Greece, where I worked as a private tutor teaching English to Greek students - from complete beginners to those working up to taking the Cambridge Proficiency exams in order to access the top UK universities. For example, a student passing with flying colours and taking up a place at the University of Birmingham to study engineering.
I have a BA Hons degree in Modern Languages: English/French alongside a module in Classical Greek: Language and Literature. I believe in stress-free lessons as my students learn best when relaxed. I particularly enjoy working with those whose native language is not English. It is a thrill to help them improve their speaking and listening skills - as well as reading and writing skills. It is rewarding to watch them grow in confidence when expressing themselves in English. I have extensive experience tutoring English Language and Literature, French and History. I also enjoy teaching Greek from beginners to intermediate level. As part of my degree, I am well-versed in Greek Literature.
I have significant experience in personal statements regarding university applications. Furthermore, as a 'lover of words', I enjoy proofreading documents, essays and dissertations on a variey of topics.
